Your Path To Healing Starts at Mt. Sinai

What is SAMHSA?

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a nationwide resource to connect people with addictions, mental health difficulties, and other related conditions to organizations and facilities that can help them. Importantly, it offers a 24/7/365, free, and confidential hotline that can help people get out of dark headspaces and find them help right away, with no judgment.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts, please call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) right away. People who care about your health and happiness are there to help you.

Details About SAMHSA

  • Hours of operation: SAMHSA is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Language: SAMHSA offers its services in English and Spanish. A prompt at the beginning of a call can connect you with a SAMHSA representative who speaks another preferred language, though.
  • Service costs: It is completely free to call SAMHSA and get help finding treatment for an addiction or mental health difficulty. The organization has the resources necessary to find a treatment center in your area that accepts your health insurance or meets your needs. If you don’t have insurance, then SAMHSA can also connect you with programs that are funded entirely by your state.
  • Confidentiality: All calls are entirely confidential. You do not need to share personal information about yourself if you do not wish. The SAMHSA representative may ask for your zip code if you indicate that you would like to find a local addiction treatment center or mental health care facility, though.

Importantly, the SAMHSA representative that answers the phone does not provide mental health and addiction counseling. They are trained to immediately connect you with specialists who can provide counseling or to a local treatment center.

From all of us at Mount Sinai Wellness Center, we hope you are doing well. If you aren’t, and you need help right now, please call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) to connect with SAMHSA. We are based in Dahlonega, Georgia, and accept most major insurances to make our services affordable to more people.
