Sober Ways to Show Love

As highlighted by Mental Health America, Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to show yourself some love, especially since cold February days can lead to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which can affect mental health. It can be difficult to find motivation or focus when the days become shorter and colder, but there are ways to manage SAD and keep yourself feeling your best – and Valentine’s Day is a great day to start taking those steps .

From pampering yourself with a massage or manicure, to creating a special dinner for you or your partner, there are plenty of ways to make February 14th a special day without relying on alcohol or drugs. Why not take an evening off and indulge in an activity you enjoy, such as painting, reading, playing an instrument, or relaxing with your favorite show? You could also express your gratitude by writing down all the things you appreciate about yourself—or simply taking time for self-reflection and introspection.

Mocktails are another perfect way to still enjoy a special, festive beverage for Valentine's Day without the alcohol. From muddling raspberries into your favorite sparkling water for a pleasantly pink drink to concoctions filled with fresh-pressed juice or ginger ale, there are plenty of delicious and exciting mocktail recipes for you to try this year. Get creative in the kitchen and whip up an evening of tasty non-alcoholic drinks!
