She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. She is a certified clinical trauma professional, master addiction counselor, certified EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and approved clinical supervisor. Her treatment focus is on individuals with complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Darlene has been working with individuals with mental health issues and substance abuse for the past several years. She recently worked in a residential program and assisted in developing the women’s’ program as the Clinical Manager. She has previous experience working at a residential trauma unit for women, where she facilitated individual, family, and group counseling sessions with dual diagnosis and complex trauma issues. She has trained staff on trauma sensitivity and educated patients on the three phases of trauma therapy.
Darlene is passionate about working with individuals who have complex trauma issues. She views her career as more of a calling rather than a job. Her greatest desire in working at Mount Sinai Wellness Center is to be able to connect with her patients at their point of suffering, and help create a place of safety and trust where they are able to find peace from their past and hope for their future.
