Dr. Stacy Seikel attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma. She completed her residency at the University of Florida in 1989, attaining Board Certification in Anesthesiology. Dr. Seikel practiced Anesthesiology from 1989-2000 in Orlando, Florida. She moved into the field of Addictionology in 2000 and is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Seikel served as Corporate Medical Director at The Center for Drug-Free Living from 2001 through 2013, in Orlando, Florida. There, she oversaw medical and psychiatric services for all programs including a 40 bed Detoxification program, a methadone clinic, five residential facilities, and a pregnant women’s residential program. During this time, she was on faculty at The University of Florida, College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and trained Addiction Medicine Fellows during their two year fellowship. From 2006-2013 she trained medical students and family practice residents in Addiction Medicine and also held academic appointments at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences and Florida State University, College of Medicine. From 2015-2018, Dr. Seikel served as Clinical Assistant Professor at Georgia Regents University, Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior, Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Seikel was an original buprenorphine mentor through the PSCC-B, from 2004-2010, mentoring physicians new to prescribing buprenorphine.
Dr. Seikel had an office based Addiction Medicine practice from 2006-2014, where she provided comprehensive forensic substance use evaluations for the Florida Physician Recovery Network, The Florida Impaired Nursing Program and The Florida Department of Health. A national leader in the field of addiction treatment, Dr. Seikel is passionate about helping develop solutions for the opioid epidemic that’s raging across the country. She is also an expert on dual disorders including Pain and Addiction.
Prior to joining the team at Mt. Sinai Wellness Center, Dr. Seikel was the Chief Medical Officer for two privately funded startup drug treatment programs, providing full continuums of care from detoxification, residential, PHP and IOP both in Florida and Georgia. She helped develop these programs, lead the teams to obtain Joint Commission Accreditation and put in place efficient and cost-effective medical operations.
Dr. Seikel has been published in the Rakel Textbook of Family Medicine, co-authoring the chapter on Alcohol Use Disorders, as well as being published in peer reviewed journals.
She has been honored with the Dole-Nyswander Award for patient advocacy from the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence and chosen as Professional of the Year by the Florida Association of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
