Kayla grew up in the tiny town of Clermont, Georgia. She is a high school graduate of Chestatee High School. Growing up, Kayla enjoyed riding and showing horses and cheerleading. She also spent time in third world countries such as Africa and Ukraine doing mission work. Kayla is very compassionate and has a heart for serving and taking care of everyone around her. For Undergraduate studies, Kayla attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. She completed her Pre-Nursing with an outstanding 4.4 GPA. She went on to King University in Bristol, Tennessee for Nursing School on a full competition cheerleading scholarship. In between full-time schooling, Kayla also worked part time in the ICU as a student nurse, balanced cheerleading, and was a full-time mother to two children. Kayla was also in many leadership roles such as the President of the Student Nurses Association, and Captain of her cheerleading team. She also found time to volunteer as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for five years, where she helped support abused and neglected children from homes destroyed by drugs and alcohol. With all of her dedication, she managed to graduate Summa Cum Laude from King University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Prior to Kayla’s exciting career at MSWC, she worked as a critical care nurse in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit. Kayla enjoyed the complexity of the patients and loved being able to spend so much quality time with them and being a support for their families. It was during this time that Kayla realized the detrimental and severe impact that drugs and alcohol have on so many individuals. She was very excited and humbled by the opportunity to be a part of the Mt. Sinai team, and help nurses to become better nurses. Kayla strives every day to give her all to her staff and clients. She believes strongly that everyone should be treated with high and equal, compassionate, quality care. Kayla is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Nursing.
Kayla has achieved the following certifications: TNCC, NIH, BLS, ACLS, CCRN, and NAPPI trainer.
